Iranian classical guitarist, Mehrzad Gerami Born in 1992 started learning guitar at the age of thirteen. Two years later, she gave her first solo performance on the stage. Later, she participated in the masterclasses of Professor Lily Afshar and after that she started the advanced course of playing with Dr. Mehrdad Pakbaz.

After studying for a master’s degree in economics, she participated in the entrance exam for a master’s degree in art, and with the fourth place in the master’s in music entrance exam, she entered the Tehran University of Art and studied with Golfam Khayam and other professors of this faculty. Her master’s thesis with the subject: “Performing Comparison of Bach’s Works on Lute and Guitar by Baroque Performing Features” was recognized as the best thesis of the Music Department of the Tehran University of Arts in 2023.

She has been working as an official international artist of Yamaha since 2023. In her portfolio, there is also participation in the masterclasses of professors such as Bor Zulijan (Renaissance lute player), Dr. Afshin Torabi (doctorate in guitar playing in Canada) and Azin Movhed (Alexander technique subject). Among her other professors in music, we can mention Mohammad Reza Tafazzoli (form), Morteza Shirkohi (harmony and counterpoint), Babak Pakzad (improvisation and pedagogy), Iman Fakhr (music interpretation) and Mohammad Vahed (solfeggio).

Since 2012, she has been teaching in music schools in Tehran and since 2020, she has been teaching at the University of Culture and Arts in Tehran.

-Performance of works by Golfam Khayam in the Festival of Contemporary Music Magazine – Tehran, Iran, 2022.

-Finalist of the 14th “Youth Music Festival” – Iran, 2020.
